Conceptual Model and Geothermal Resource Decisions

NGAP is offering a free online training on Geothermal Resource Professionals Using a Conceptual Model Approach for Geothermal Resource Decisions on December 17, 2025 from 8:00 to 11:00 AM PHT.  This is a learning session exclusively to NGAP's active members. The topic is relevant for exploration and development for both high temperature volcano-hosted systems and lower temperature deep circulation systems. It will be also useful in updating conceptual models for already developed and operating fields. The training will be suited to a combination of geothermal professionals including geoscientists, engineers, managers and other roles.

The lecture will be given by Nick Hinz, the Chief Technical Officer of the Geologica Geothermal Group Inc. He is a geoscientist and conducts structural and geological mapping, wellsite geology, integrated geothermal conceptual model development, and well target and resource assessment services to geothermal field developers, research consortia and educational institutions. He has nearly 25 years of experience in both magmatically-heated, and deep-circulation-heated systems hosted in volcanic and sedimentary settings in Northern and Central America, the Caribbean, Eastern and Southern Africa, Turkey, Western Europe, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan. His services include detailed integration of surface structural geology, geophysics and geochemistry and subsurface geology and thermodynamics to build resource conceptual models used to target wells and assess resource capacity. He also supports drilling programs including wellsite geology, wellsite geoscience training and real time resource conceptual model updates for drilling decisions. He has also directed structural geology and stress calculation research and applications at both local geothermal prospects and regional assessments. He also provides extensive field instruction in structural geology mapping, wellsite geologist training and conceptual model workshops for industry and universities.  Nick has published more than 100 papers on geothermal projects worldwide as first or coauthor.

NGAP members must pre-register through XpertoConceptual Model and Geothermal Resource Decisions .  Verified members will receive the webinar link on December 16, 2025.
