Jonathan Caparas “Atan” is an accomplished energy professional with 18 years of experience in geothermal power production, power market strategy, project management, and decision analysis. He currently serves as Portfolio Management Advisor at Energy Development Corporation (EDC), where he leads the strategic optimization of the company’s energy asset portfolio and investments.

Prior to EDC, Atan played pivotal roles at Philippine Geothermal Production Company (PGPC), where he was instrumental in driving over ₱150 million in incremental project value and generating ₱30 billion in revenue for the Mak-Ban and Tiwi geothermal fields. His expertise spans pricing and billing, revenue forecasting, contract negotiations, and multidisciplinary facilitation—earning him PGPC’s President’s Award for his leadership in finalizing the long-term Geothermal Resources Sales and Services Agreement (GRSSA) with Aboitiz Power Renewable Inc.

Atan holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, where he was a DOST scholar and student leader, and completed Renewable Energy Project Management training at the University of Auckland Geothermal Institute.

Known for his strong analytical mindset and leadership in high-pressure environments, Jonathan is also an avid learner and adventurer. He enjoys reading history and biographies, exploring nature, traveling, and experiencing different cultures.
