Loraine Pastoriza Primaleon, PhD

Lead, Field Development and Planning, Tongonan Geothermal Field
Energy Development Corporation

Dr. Loraine Pastoriza Primaleon “Lorz” is a licensed geologist and structural geology expert with over 15 years of industry experience in geothermal energy exploration, hazard assessment, and field development planning. She currently serves as Field Development Planner at the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), where she leads the strategic planning and execution of well-related projects at the Tongonan Geothermal Field—crafting drilling programs, evaluating business cases, and ensuring alignment with long-term field strategies

Lorz earned her PhD in Geology from the University of Durham in the UK, focusing on the deformation history of brittle structures in volcano-hosted geothermal systems. Her technical expertise encompasses seismic hazard assessments, reservoir characterization, hydrogeological modeling, and real-time drilling monitoring across all five of EDC’s geothermal sites.

An active researcher and author, she has presented and published numerous studies in international forums and journals, notably on the Southern Negros and Leyte geothermal fields. She was also selected as one of 17 global participants in the Women in Geothermal (WING) Future Leaders Cohort 2020, and she continues to advocate for earthquake resilience and sustainable geothermal development.

Lorz is a board trustee of the National Geothermal Association of the Philippines (NGAP) and a member of several global professional organizations, including the International Geothermal Association and Women in Geothermal. Beyond the technical field, she is a certified diver, home cook, event planner, and a proud mother, passionate about cultural exchange, exploration, and learning through both science and life.
